75 year old diabetic patient X had osteoarthritis of both the Knee joints. He was unable to sit cross-legged , unable to squat , unable to climb stairs. He walked with the help of walker. His gait was of short steps , increased width and slow. His legs appeared to be bent inwards.
He consulted Dr. Anupam Khandelwal in a camp organised in January 2025. He was advised TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT surgery with COATED IMPORTED IMPLANTS. After proper pre-operative planning and preparations patient was operated for Bilateral Staged Total Knee Replacement (B/S TKR).
As the surgery got finished , Dr. Anupam Khandelwal assessed all the parameters of the patient like Blood Pressure, Heart rate, Respiratory rate, Pulse, blood oxygen saturation, distal limb pulse, limb circulation etc. Dr. Anupam Khandelwal found patient the parameters within normal limits and took a decision to start knee bending of the operated knee on the operating table itself.
Since patient was operated in regional anaesthesia , patient was able to interact with Dr. Anupam Khandelwal all the while surgery was performed. Hence , when requested to start bending and straightening the leg , patient performed knee bending and straightening on the operating table itself without any experience of pain or discomfort.
It is because of these extra-ordinary surgical skills and advanced technology that this patient was able to bend the knee joint five minutes after the knee replacement surgery done by Dr. Anupam Khandelwal. He eventually also participated in a recreational lemon-spoon race organized for TKR patients of HAPPY JOINTS CLUB & INDIA KNEE CLUB 15 days later on republic day of India (26th January 2025).
The patient’s feedback is that he had minimal pain after TKR surgery. He thanked Dr. Anupam Khandelwal for the early and swift recovery . He also mentioned that Dr. Anupam Khandelwal is best Knee replacement Surgeon in Indore as he made the knee bend on the operating table. He had visited hospitals in Ahmedabad and Mumbai also , but the decision to get surgery done in Indore was right.
